Tip: When playing at a loose table, play tight. When playing at a tight table, play loose.
Why? :
Understanding the players that compose your table is everything. Let's
take the first situation where you are sitting at a loose table. Chips
are flying back and forth. Players are calling with sub-premium hands
and drawing out because they had "a feeling."
So why play tight?
Playing tight in this situation will allow you to avoid the mass
exchanging of chips until it is your time to cash in on them. Playing
premium hands at this table will also allow you to get into pots where
you will be paid off by the looser players. Playing a lot of pots at a
loose table is only asking for trouble.
In the second situation,
you are at a tight table, full of rock-solid players who will only enter
pots if they have the goods. Here you should play looser than everyone
else as you will be able to take down pots with your aggressive play.
Raising the blinds in this situation will also be very beneficial, and
unless the players wake up with a big hand, most likely they'll lay
their hands down for you.
After all is said and done, make sure
you don't become too predictable in your play. Mix things up and keep
your opponents guessing.
